Makalu Base Camp Trek is a trek of challenge and achievement through one of the most ancient kingdom of Nepal's most far-flung regions. The route wanders through Makalu Barun National Park, lovely mountain villages, green woods, high passes and alpine meadows and the out-of-the-way Barun Valley. The journey starts off with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, before being continued by a trek up to Seduwa. Then, the trail slopes up through Tashigaon, Khongma Danda, Dobato, Yangle Kharka and Langmale Kharka, finally reaching a height of 4,870m at Makalu Base.
Along the way, you can enjoy spectacular views of Mount Makalu, the world's fifth-highest mountain, as well as Everest, Lhotse, Chamlang, Baruntse, and other Himalayan peaks. Steep walks, long days in the boot, high passes, and long days in the backcountry make this trek ideal for well-trained and fit walking expeditions with some experience on mountain trails.
